My great grandfather, John Barrons, was a voracious reader. In this letter excerpt, he recounts his reading, to my grandmother, of the fortitude of Queen Elizabeth I, and her sister Mary, Queen of Scots. “She played Catholic against Protestant, Nation against Nation and leading the people of England one against another. None of them knew how far to believe her or trust her. But always to one thing she was true. England. She said when they crowned her, England was to be her husband, and it seems she never really seriously considered any other. ”
I remember as far back as college, enjoying research, and pondering the “whys” of the world. I guess I come by it naturally. The compilation is coming together, and now I am working on creating the book cover.
